At Cleeve Primary school, we have decided to be an ‘early adopter school’ from September 2020
We will be following the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to provide our EYFS curriculum in Reception (FS2) and at the end of the academic year the EYFS profile will provide parents with a reliable assessment of each child’s attainment in relation to the 17 early learning goals.
The government’s aim for the proposed changes are ‘to improve outcomes at age 5, particularly in early language and literacy.’
We will continue to teach themes through play and exploration supported by outstanding adult-interaction.

The foundation stage consists of Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery) and Foundation Stage 2 (Reception)
The foundation stage makes a crucial contribution to a child’s early development and learning. We provide a rich variety of teaching and learning experiences that are appropriate to the needs of the child.
The children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is divided into 3 prime and 4 specific areas.
* Personal, social and emotional development
* Communication and language
* Physical development
* Understanding of the world
* Art and design
In FS1 we have stay and play sessions every Wednesday, please add your name to the board outside the nursery entrance.
In FS2 we look forward to working in partnership with you and we welcome you into school on a Tuesday and Thursday morning to do short reading and writing activities with your child.
Additional activities and events will be displayed on our website.
